We will watch the 1927 silent film WINGS with Clara Bow and Charles “Buddy” Rogers.   If you have never been here before, it’s quite fun.   There will be live accompaniment by Donnie Rankin on the Mighty Wurlitzer.   They normally have a short first before the main film, and sometimes a sing-along.  Wings was awarded the first-ever Oscar for Best Picture in 1927, featuring spectacular aerial photography and a memorably sweet performance by Clara Bow. This month let's do Polish at our old favorite Solidarity in Santa Monica. This restaurant is noted both for its architecture (it is in a converted Craftsman house) and its sumptuous food. Let's keep things in Hollywood Riviera and let's go to Copper Pot this month. This may be the best Indian restaurant in the Beach Cities with good reviews in the local newspapers. Hosted by Stan West in Ladera Heights (near Culver City), this is one of the oldest continuous monthly group meetings. Stan is a gourmet cook and will put out a spread such that no one will be disappointed they came! He can accommodate up to 7 fully vaccinated people. Five of those lucky people will be randomly chosen to read their stuff to the rest of the group for some constructive criticism.  Those not chosen will get accolades from their fellow authors for helping the others chase that dream, and some great food! Meet at Taix Restaurant in Silver Lake.  They are still home.  Join us for some fine (but not overly expensive) French food. Taix (pronounced Tex) has been around since 1927 and has been at its current location since 1962 with very little changes done since then, even still being run by the same family that has run it since day one.  We will meet in Wilson Park in front of the Dee Hardison Sports Center at 2400 Jefferson Street, Torrance.   Bring a blanket or chair and a picnic if you so desire.   We will find a good spot for the free concert which starts at 5pm, and then head out for a walk around the park, 1 mile distance around the perimeter.
