A longtime favorite South Bay restaurant of mine has been Al Noor in Lawndale. It has been closed for dining in for a long time due to the pandemic but has recently reopened. This place features some unique Pakistani and Indian dishes, including haleem, a chicken and grain stew and one of my favorites, and nehari, a beef shank that is a popular Pakistani breakfast item. I also very much enjoy their minced meat kabobs and their cauliflower and potato dish, as well as the spinach and potato one. Al Noor is located at 15112 Inglewood Avenue at the corner of […]

Continuing through our Hebrew alphabet, we are now on dalet- delta. D has always been an issue for us as not too many country names begin with that letter, but in Hebrew we have better luck. Darom means south, which gives us Drom Korea and Drom Afrika. Let's do the first of these and go to 7th Korean Barbecue in Koreatown. This is arguably the go to place for Korean barbecue in L.A. and has an amazing 4.7 out of 5 rating on Google. 7th Korean is at 698 South Vermont Avenue in the 7th and Vermont Plaza. RSVP to Kedem […]

This is arguably the best and most authentic Chinese restaurant in the Beach Cities. Jiayang Dumping House in Redondo Beach got started in Canada before the owners moved to a sunnier place. Come there to enjoy either the dumplings or other favorite Chinese dishes. The restaurant is located at 1904 Pacific Coast Highway at a nondescript shopping center that includes a Fedex and a math tutoring center. To RSVP, contact Kedem Har-Shalom at kedem524@yahoo.com.
