International Diners’ Club. This month in our Olympic chronology we are on Beijing 2008. Chinese food is not too exciting for International Diners’ Club, so let’s do a specific cuisine of the Chinese empire, specifically Uyghur. There is a sizable Uyghur population in Southern California that is free from genocide, and they have quite a vibrant cuisine that is heavy on noodles, meats, and dumplings. This dinner is somewhat of a return to our roots. We are meeting in the San Gabriel Valley, where so many early dinners of our group met when they had a rivalry with Michael Wong’s Asian dinners happening in the same area.
